The Job:

We are seeking a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have both benefits administration and payroll experience and play a key role in supporting the HR department.

This is an onsite role based in Westwood, MA.

Reporting to the HR Director, the HR Generalist is responsible for the provision of day-to-day operations in support of the HR Department. You will serve as the initial HR contact for employees and provide a broad range of support including, but not limited to onboarding and hiring, data entry and records management, compliance, payroll processing, benefits, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support in all functional areas of the Human Resource Department including, but not limited to, benefits administration, worker’s compensation, recruitment, personnel records, payroll, HRIS maintenance, and employee relations.
  • Assist with the recruitment process for new staff, i.e. job postings, scheduling interviews, set up of orientation material, running of background checks.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll through the Paychex system, accurately and on time, and manage payroll records.
  • Serves as initial HR contact for employees and oversees, coordinates, and conducts new hire onboarding, orientation, and exit meetings with terminating employees.
  • Assist in designing, implementing, and administering of policies; responds to inquiries regarding policies.
  • Manage and administer the employee benefit programs including health, dental, life, short and long-term disability, supplemental insurances, workers comp, and 401(k) for all benefit eligible employees by ensuring that all benefit data bases are accurate and up to date and tracking billing/payments of all benefit programs. Serve as a resource to managers and employees regarding benefit program questions.
  • Administer the leave process for all STD, LTD, PFML and FMLA leave. Track absences and work with and support managers and employees through the process.
  • Assists the managers and supervisors with the administration of annual performance reviews for hourly team members .
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources in their responsibility for adherence to employment law, in addition to ensuring compliance with FMLA, ADA, FLSA and other applicable areas of employment law.
  • Manage all paperwork and compliance including background checks, medical paperwork, I-9s, etc. and maintain employee records and HR databases.
  • Respond to employee inquiries, processes verifications of employment request, and assists with other employee related matters.

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resource management or business or another related field.
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel, Paychex, and benefits administration software.
  • Experience as an HR Generalist, preferably within the healthcare industry.
  • General knowledge of benefit maintenance portals.
  • Experience in administration of benefits, compensation, and related HR programs.
  • Excellent computer and data entry skills (HRIS, Microsoft Office).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving, interpretive skill, organizational and time management.
  • Must be familiar with new hire documents, i.e. payroll forms, direct deposit, I-9, verifying IDs.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters using discretion and good judgment.
  • Team player.
  • Able to productively work alone.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 2+ years of previous HR/Benefits/Payroll experience preferred.
  • Proven experience within the Paychex and other benefits portals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Combination of sitting, standing, and walking 33% of the time.
  • Ability to lift up to a maximum of 25 lbs. at a time.
